NBA Picks From The Betting Sports Game

I hope you played the picks I made on the 29th. I went 2 for 2 on those and did well on some others that I did not publish. I haven't thought about handicapping, but maybe I should..... not today anyhow!! It sure is nice to hit the picks and watch the bankroll grow. Tonight I will publish a couple of more picks for free. The first one is on the higher end of the risk scale. The Golden State Warriors are going into Houston to face the Rockets. Both teams have been playing well lately and Houston is going for its first 3 game winning streak in more then a month after coming off of back to back wins against Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors.

However, they will still be missing Tracy McGrady and will have to rely on Yao Ming and the bench to pick up their game play again. Playing Golden State will not make that any easier as they have a winning road record and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. If their defence plays strong then they will win. The Warriors are 10-0 when holding opponents under 100 points. So, if you are looking for some tight action this game will fit the bill.

Another game that has a good moneyline, but some risk to match is the Portland Trail Blazers on the road against the Utah Jazz. Utah has played well at home, but Portland is on a tear and is going for their 14th straight line. On the opposite side of things is Utah, who have gone 3-11 since early in December. Two of those losses have been to Portland.

Another thing to consider is that Kyle Korver, whom the Jazz acquired from Philadelphia on Saturday, is expected to make his Utah debut in this contest. On BetUS this one will pay out $250 for every $100 bet on the Trail Blazers. For me, that pay out makes the risk/reward ratio acceptable.

Tonight in the NBA, the New Orleans Hornets should be able to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers at home. The odds makers are giving the a few points to the Cavaliers but I still think the Hornets can cover. Cleveland is the high flying team with the big star, but the hornets have surprised more ten one team this year and have put themselves just 1.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs.


Another game to watch is the Boston Celtics going into Utah to face the Jazz. With the trade of disgruntled guard Gordan Giricek to the 76ers for 3 point ace Kyle Korver, the Jazz will need some time to find their rhythm. You may want to take advantage of that. It will still be a close match up though and I am not going to bet it myself. If I was going to though, I would take Boston. They both have equal home and road regards of 10-2 respectively and Utah is getting around 3.5 points now. I like a home underdog generally and especially when it is east versus west, but with the trade and Boston's seemingly unstoppable offence it just seems unlikely the Jazz will win.

Sports Betting Champ On Boxing Day

I am stuffed full of turkey and ready to watch more of my NBA bets hit and win. I also want to say thanks for all of the emails and if I haven't gotten back to you yet, please be patient. I will try to answer as many emails as I can but it can be hard to keep up, so I can't get back to everyone.

NBA & The SportsBettingChamp System Over The Holidays

It was a good night in the NBA last night. The picks that I posted went 2 for 3 and I did just as good on a few others. I don't know what happened to the Orlando Magic last night, but they sure didn't live up to my expectations. I guess they might just be only a home team. If they expect to get any respect and be considered anything but a road team they need something to happen at home now.

There are a lot of big spreads out there on the NBA line today, so I am not sure what I will be playing yet. I am looking at the Charlotte Bobcats going into Milwaukee to play the Bucks. The Bucks are a 6.5 point favorite right now. The two teams have similar records overall, but the Bobcats are 1-9 on the road. They have also lost 10 of their last 14. But, the Bucks have some injuries that they are dealing with and lost to the Bobcats the last time they hosted them.

It is now the holiday season and I wish everyone the best. Have some good food and drinks and enjoy yourself. I will be doing that myself and will post when I can.

Strong NBA Covers For Tonight's Bets

It's a busy schedule tonight in the NBA. There are a few games that should be safe to bet, even with the spread. The first one requires 9.5-10 points to be covered, but I think that the Boston Celtics should be able to cover and more against the Chicago Bulls. They suffered their first home loss against the Detroit Pistons on Friday and this will be their bounce back game. Chicago is not having a great season and is 4-8 on the road, so I expect the Celtics to cover.

I also think it should be safe to look at the Detroit Pistons covering against the Memphis Grizzlies. Detroit is looking good and has held their last 4 opponents to under 90 points, one of them being Boston. The line is around 9.5 on this one as well, but I can't see that being an issue tonight. Another factor in Detroit's favor will be the possible absence of Pau Gasol, the Grizzlies leading re-bounder. He jammed his toe last week and has not returned to action yet. He will be a game time call tonight.

My last look is at the Utah Jazz visiting the Orlando Magic. Both teams are struggling a bit, but expect the Magic to cover the 3 points and take the game. Utah has really struggled on the road and has lost 7 straight. It is their worst road loss record since 2005. Orlando is only .500 at home and have only won 2 of their last 7, but on the road they are the best in the NBA and is show as overall they are 18-9. So the Jazz are a good fit for a Magic team looking to turn it around at home at 3 points.

Getting Beat By The Line - NBA & The SportsbettingChamp System

If you bet the Toronto Raptors to win against the Los Angeles Clippers last night you know what I mean about getting beat by the line. The line had Toronto as a 5.5 point favorite and they only won by 3. You know the feeling, that emptiness in the pit of your stomach.... Why didn't they get 3 more points? Why? Why?

The point spread is the most powerful tool that the sports odds maker has. It is their way of leveling the playing field, no wait, their way of tilting the odds in their favor. You can see it everyday when you look at the NBA line. They make it tough for sports bettors like us. That is why it is so important to look for value. Look for something that may have been over looked, like injuries to impact players.

This is especially true in the case of players who have day to day injuries or if a sudden illness strikes. If you can pick up on it just before game time you might be able to find value in some of the lines. This is because sometimes the odds makers don't react quickly to this and you can get your bets placed to take advantage of the situation.

When they are unsure if a player will or won't be in the line-up they have a tough decision to make. How should they reflect this in the line? They only have two options. The first is to place the line as if the player is in the line up and hope that they are actually on the court. In this case, if the player does not play, you can often find value, so pay close attention to this when you see it. There is money to be made with this strategy.

The second option occurs when the sports odds makers adjusts the line to reflect the player being out of the line-up. In this case, you need to watch the game time injury reports and see if the player will play. Just as in the previous case, you can often find value. Check to see if the odds maker has taken points off of a favored team and then take advantage of the lower spread.

Those are just two examples of how injuries can be used to find value in the sports odds line. There are other ways to look at injuries and how to place your bets based on them as well, but I don't want to get into them all right now. There are many other value areas to watch when you are deciding where to place your bets. You need to develop a checklist and make sure you are going over every one for each bet that you are making.

NBA Tonight, A Few To Look At In The Betting Sports Game

There are only three games tonight and not much opportunity out there in the NBA. I don't think that the game between the New Jersey Nets and the Sacramento Kings fits into a low risk strategy. It is too high on the risk factor scale to be placing any amount of your bankroll on. Sacramento is 1 and 9 on the road, but with the Vegas line odds makers making the Nets a 5.5 point favorite it is hard to find the value.

The Los Angeles Lakers visiting the Chicago Bulls will be a good game and as some possibilities. The Lakers are riding Kobe and he is playing great. He has 36 points last game and even with some soreness in his groin he is playing spectacularly. I have seen the line giving the Lakers 2 points, so you may want to place a small bet on this one. I am going to avoid it myself, but we all have different risk factors and levels of betting strategy.

The last game tonight has the Toronto Raptors visiting the Los Angeles Clippers. The Raptors have been playing well for the most part lately. Chris Bosch is having a good year and leading the team in both points an rebounds and is also close to becoming the all time rebound leader for the Raptors. They are 6-4 in their last 10 and 6-5 on the road this season.on the other hand, the Clippers have a lot of injuries and Cuttino Mobley will be a game time call due to a stomach virus as will Tim Thomas, who missed the Clippers last game due to an ankle injury. If either or both are out the edge definitely swings to the Raptors. I have seen the line putting Toronto as a 5.5 point favorite and there is a good chance they can cover that.

Today The Betting Sports Game has a few games that are worth taking a look at. There are 8 games on the schedule and we will go over ?? of the games. The Spurs have yet to lose at home and are only a 2.5 point favorite. Take the points and go with the Spurs. They should cover at the very least and should win by 6.

The last game I am going to look at it the Golden State Warriors travelling to Memphis to pay the Grizzlies. The Warriors were spanked in the first game of their 4 game road trip in Detroit by 20 points and did not look good at all. I look for them to bounce back, as they were not to happy with themselves after that game and are looking to make someone pay. That someone is Memphis. The Warriors can be found as a 4 point favorite, which isn't that much to cover, given Memphis' poor home record and they also have a high PA average.

I had been looking at the system prior to the 2006-2007 season, actually during the pre-season when I was doing some research on the web on players, teams, etc. like I do each year. I decided to buy it and try it since there is an 8 week money back guarantee. I didn't have much to lose the way I looked at it. So, the Visa got charged and I got the system, which did win like it says it did.

People, including me in the past, look at this and think it is impossible. But, if you look at the number of games it bets versus the games played in a season it makes more sense. Look at the results for this season. It has picked and won 25 times, but if you look at the schedule, there have been over 600 games played this season in the NBA. So, really, the 25 wins is a small portion of the games played, like 4%, which isn't a lot really and means you aren't placing bets everyday either. It's all statistics that are used to calculate the best odds and it makes the picks based on its calculations and not that many games get picked because there aren't that many that are "sure" wins.

Also, I do bet other games and other sports on occasion. I come up with my own picks based on various things That is what I am trying to get across in the blog, The SportsBettingChamp System is just part of my low risk betting strategy. Lebron And His Finger Are Back And It Showed

What a difference one injury and one game can make. The Cleveland Cavaliers are definitely glad that Lebron James returned from his finger injury. And they have a 118-105 win over the Indiana Pacers to show for his first game back after missing 5. He came in from the bench and sparked the team with 17 points in 22 minutes. Lebron was wearing a protective glove with some padding on his hand, but it didn't seem to bother his dribbling or play at all. Neither did having Larry Hughes come in off of the bench and score 36 points in 26 minutes. It was his second game back from a leg injury and the largest amount of points scored by a reserve on the Cavaliers since Phil Hubbard(37) in 1986. Look for them to return to find some better form now and start to win more consistently. They are now officially back on our betting radar as long as Lebron stays healthy. Their next game isn't until Friday against the Nets, but be sure to check the line then and see if there is any opportunity.

I am mentioning that because I just noticed that the Los Angeles Clippers just rolled into New Jersey and took down the Nets by 9 points. That after going in as 6-1/2 point dogs. I wonder what the Vegas odds line makers are thinking about Friday's game now? I still would stay off of the Clippers and not take them against Charlotte tomorrow though. Let's not get too crazy, Charlotte does have a winning record at home and even after this win the Clippers will still be under .500 on the road.

Going into Wednesday's schedule, you may want to look at the Philadelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. I know the line is large at 7 points, but the 76ers have been playing well lately and the Timberwolves haven't, especially on the road. I would also look at the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks just came off of a bad road trip and are going to be looking to turn it around at home where they are 6 and 2 this year. But even after losing two, Orlando is still a much better team. The line right now is putting Orlando as a 4 point favorite and I think they can probably cover that and then some, so check it out.

On the injury front not much has changed, Cleveland lost again on Saturday without Lebron James and Kobe Bryant couldn't have felt too much pain from his shoulder as he had 28 points and one of his best performances of the year overall in the Lakers 123-113 win over the Warriors in a great game.

Tonight, I am not sure if I will be placing any bets. If anything I might look at taking Orlando over the Hawks, but the line is a bit high at 9.5 right now, so we'll see what its at later today. The Philadelphia and Houston game is a tough call with both teams barely playing .500 basketball. I won't bet this one or the Suns and Heat game as I try to avoid the big spreads over 10 points as part of my low risk betting strategy. I know that Miami isn't playing well but sometimes, the top teams seem to play down to their opponents level and like I said, avoid the big spread. The Dallas and New York game may look attractive to you and could be if you are looking for a bet with a higher risk. I think that with the way the Mavericks play on the road and the 8.5 point spread I will watch this one without any money on it.

Weekend NBA Action & A Few Key Injury Updates- The Betting Sports Game

It's just try to maintain the pain level down as much as possible so Sunday I'm playing with less pain than what I'm feeling now." So, his injury is something that we need to keep an eye on and make we know if it gets worse and how it will be affecting his play. This will affect bets on the Lakers and could play to our advantage if we are sharp.

The last game I am going to look at is the Boston Celtics at the Chicago Bulls. I have seen the line as low as 4-1/2 points for the favorite Boston and I think they should be able to more then cover that. They are 8 and 2 in their last 10 and the Bulls are under .500 at home this season. Even though the Celtics historically haven't done well against the Bulls, they have lost the last 8, it should change with the addition of Kevin Garnett to the match-up. I will be glued this one tonight.

NBA & MLB From The BSG Blog

There are only three games in the NBA tonight and from what I see not all of them are hot games to play if you are looking for low risk, safe bets. If anything seems a bit interesting it is the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Atlanta Hawks. While neither team is that strong, it is a good match up for the Hawks. They have won the last three at home and the Timberwolves are just 1 and 9 on the road and have lost their last 3 by a combined total of 65 points. Ouch!!. Joe Johnson will need to have a stronger game then he did against the Pistons and the Hawks need to give him a bit more support then he had in that game as well.

The Miami Heat at the Portland Trail Blazers is a bit riskier. The Heat haven't seen Dwayne Wade return to the form he had before his injuries. They are just 1-6 since his return and he has not shown the consistency that is needed for the Heat to turn things around. That said, the Heat have beaten the Blazers in their last 5 meetings so they could pull it out tonight if that stat holds to form. However, the Blazers are coming off of one of their best offensive performances this year with points coming from many players including 20 plus points from both Travis Outlaw, who came in off of the bench and Brandon Roy. Both teams have pluses in this game and with the line showing Miami favored by 3, you might want to avoid this one.

Lebron James is still out with his sprained finger and his return date still seems unclear. He has missed the last two games with the injury to his left index finger and today coach Mike Brown didn't make it sound like he would be back for in the near future.

He was quoted as saying: ''It's a slow process, the injury he has. It's a funny injury when you're talking about your knuckles and your fingers. When you get that ball in your hand, you have a lot of guys swiping at it. Officials think he's the strongest human in the world, but it's a tough thing to have to deal with.''

To me that doesn't sound reassuring, so I would avoid the Cavaliers if you are looking for safe bets the rest of this week or for the weekend. When I saw how all 3 of last night's games turned out I was shocked. Who would have expected the New York Knicks to fold like that to the Boston Celtics. Can you say 104-59. Unbelievable. It is the third worst loss ever for the Knicks and their second worst loss in the shot clock era. Here I was saying that I didn't think the Celtics would cover the 12-1/2 points. How wrong I was, but I play low risk bets, so I won't complain. The betting sports games can't predict everything, especially scores like this.

So, it this the bottom for the Knicks? I thought they were possibly picking up the pieces and starting to solidify their play, but now I think they need to look at everything again. How do you have a melt down like that. Expect them to come out charged up for their next game but I wouldn't expect great things from them soon.

I also avoided the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets game which turned out to be a 113-94 win for the Warriors. I am glad I did. The Warriors have now won eight of their last nine after starting 0-6. That is an NBA record as the Warriors are now the team to be the fastest to get a winning record after starting 0-6. Who keeps these records anyhow? I wonder where the plaque for that record is hanging at the Hall of Fame?

The win came on the back of Al Harrington shutting down Yao Ming. The "small" Harrington, Yao is 9 inches taller, held the big man to a season low 10 points while netting 18 of his own. Yao only shot 4 for 12 and also had 5 turn overs, all thanks to Harrington's play. On the offensive side of things Baron Davis led the way for the Warriors with 27 points and 8 assists.

NBA Talk on The BSG Blog

Hello all and welcome to the betting sports game. It's a slow night tonight in the NBA and there isn't much going on for low risk action. Some close calls, but that's about it.

The Boston Celtics haven't lost all year at home and don't expect the 3 and 9 New York Knicks to be the ones to change that zero to a one. The line is at 12-1/2 so it will be tough for them to cover. When you look at their averages PF and PA they are beating opponents by more then 11 points per game so it will be close, but I will be avoiding the line as it is just too high.

I would also avoid the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors game as both are on winning streaks and are playing good ball right now. To close to call with only a 2 point spread.

There are some other things to watch in the next few days. Look for an update on Lebron's finger injury to see how much it will affect his playing time as he didn't return to action on Wednesday after he left the game against the Pistons in the 2nd quarter.

The Raptors must also be concerned as both Bosh and Bargnani left the action and did not return. Neither are expected to miss much if any action, but be sure to check the injury report before they play on Friday.

Some Surprises Today In The NBA

Well, it was a bit of a surprise to me to see Boston go down to Cleveland tonight 109 to 104 in OT. Especially when Cleveland had a 3 and 3 home record going in and Boston was 4 and 1 on the road and a 4 point favorite tonight. But when you have Lebron on your side anything is possible, especially in front of the home town fans. The Cav's needed to make a statement and I think they did that tonight.

A smaller surprise would have to be the loss at home by New Jersey to Memphis, 110 to 103. Memphis was a 6 point dog in this one but somehow managed to pull off a 10 point win. With everyone pitching in, 5 players in double figures, and a 23-8 start to the 2nd quarter, the Nets were in deep. Vince Carter managed 32, but it wasn't enough in this one.

Well, at least Miami and Chicago managed to cover the Vegas sports odds line. You never know how things will work out, but there always seems to be a way to cash in on the betting sports game.

NBA Versus NFL For Betting Safety

How did your weekend playing the betting sports game go? I had a great one in the NBA and posted a big gain into my bankroll. I broke even in the NFL and that is why I only bet a few games there versus the majority of my bets going to the NBA.

Starting With A Winning System

I am often asked how I can win consistently at sports betting when most people feel that they are doing well if they win one here or there.
