3 Way NBA Trade - Cav's Get What They Need?

Another big trade has happened in the NBA. This time it's in the Eastern Conference. It is a complicated 3-way deal betweeen the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and Seattle Supersonics.

Eleven players will have new homes and here is how it breaks down. The Cavaliers get center Ben Wallace and forward Joe Smith from the Bulls in exchange for guard Larry Hughes, forwards Drew Gooden and Cedric Simmons, and guard Shannon Brown.

And from the Supersonics, the Cavaliers get forward Wally Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West for forwards Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall.

Seattle gets guard Adrian Griffin from the Bulls. And the Bulls also give up their 2nd round pick in 2009 to the Cavaliers.

It looks like Cleveland will benefit from this trade the most. The defensive play of Wallace will help them down the middle although he hasn't put up a lot of points this year, averaging only 5.1 points and 8.8 rebounds, his worst numbers in 8 years. His presence though, will be a boost to the team in and out of the locker room and he has playoff experience too. The same can be said for veteran Smith who is averaging 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. He adds some flexibility off of the bench and brings more experience to the Cav's.

The points should come from Szczerbiak who has averaged 13.1 points this year and is on a hot streak as of late. On Tuesday he scored 24 points for the Supersonics in their come from behind win over Memphis. He will be open more often in Cleveland as well as teams like to double team Lebron. I think he is the key for the Cavaliers in this trade.

Overall, sports bettors should watch for a strengthened Cavalier team, although there may be a bit longer then usual adjustment period. Kidd Traded To The Mavericks - The Sports Betting Affect

The trade is finally done and Jason Kidd has gone from the New Jersey Nets and is back with the Dallas Mavericks. It's a big eight-player deal that will send Kidd, forward Malik Allen and guard Antoine Wright to Dallas for the young point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop and Maurice Ager, plus retired forward Keith Van Horn and Trenton Hassell. New Jersey also gets two 1st round draft picks and $3 million in cash.

He will also help Dirk Nowitski's game as he will now have Kidd to feed him the ball for some easy points.

The main player that the Nets get is Devin Harris. He is averaging 14.4 points and 5.3 assists and the Nets are hoping he will continue to develop and become a solid aquisition. It is obvious with their 23-30 record and having lost 14 of their last 20 that they are looking to the future. The cash and 1st round draft picks will also help them rebuild.

This is the 3rd big trade in the Western Conference, with the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns both having made large deals before the all-star break. Now 3 of the power house teams have made deals and are positioning themselves for the playoffs. With Thursday being the deadline are there more trades out there?
