NBA Today - Good Match-ups Galore
There are a lot games in the NBA today and tonight. How are all of The SportsBettingChamp System users out there doing on them?
So far this NBA season the betting system has a record of 45 wins and 1 loss. Not too bad and I like all of the security knowing that it is on track for another season of wins. I am up enough now that I don't have to worry about things and am looking for some bets that are strong and pay out some more.
In the NBA today the Phoenix Suns are hot and have won their 6th out of their last 7 games. They had a strong 4th quarter and beat the Chicago Bulls by 10. More then covering the spread that was out there of 7-1/2 points. Even on the road the Suns are a good play if they are the underdog and have less then 8 points to cover.
The Boston Celtics knew they were in for a tough battle against the Orlando Magic and their expectations were right! The Magic pulled out a 3 point win much to the dismay of the sports bettors who were with Boston and thought they could cover. I could see why it would be an enticing bet when the Celtics only had to cover 3 points.
It went to the wire and the last second jump shot from Hedo Turkoglu was enough for the 3 point win for the Magic, the 2nd time this year they have beat Boston at home.
Remember the injuries I keep mentioning to check and follow? Well, if you bet on Boston, it was risky. This was their first game all season without Kevin Garnett. He missed it with an abdominal strain. So, make sure you watch his status for their next game. It will make a difference.

NBA Tonight - Quick Picks
The weekend is here and it is time to spend even more time in front of the new big screen. Gotta love the HD, I am sure it was invented for watching sports.
Take a look at the Atlanta Hawks over the Washington Wizards. The spread is only 2.5 and the moneyline is OK too.
I also like Boston, as they are a power house and 9 points doesn't seem too high right now. They will be looking to bounce back from a loss in there last outing to the Bobcats, but it was a blip that they should quickly recover from.

SportsBettingChamp As Part Of A Winning Betting System
Since my last post a lot of people have been asking me how I make my NBA picks every night as well as picks for other sports. The short answer is that I use my own system that I have developed over the years.
When I say I use a sports betting system, I hope you don't envision me locked away in a room with papers posted all over the walls and a cluttered desk full of books and notes written on all sorts of pieces of paper.
Well, OK, its kind of like that, but everything is in order. I keep things as simple and straight forward as I can and make sure it's all very organized. This saves time as you don't waste time by looking for things all of the time and having to redo things you have lost.
For NBA picks the first thing I do is run The SportsBettingChamp System. This will generally give me picks that I then use to start the next step of my analysis.
I then look at the team stats for both teams in every match-up. Look at their overall win/loss records and where teams are in the standings versus who they are playing. I also like to compare road versus home records for the teams. This gives me an idea of how the teams have been doing in either situation and does influence my decision. I like to look for strong road teams that are going against teams with average to poor home records.
I also use the last 10 win/loss record and the current winning or losing streak records. This gives you a feel for the how the team is doing in general and what kind of momentum they will have. Make sure you look at both teams and make a determination of who is "favored" in each statistic.
I then review the injury reports and see if any impact players are injured on either team. I record that information and again, use it to help make my decision. If there are players out, then you need to down grade that team. Make sure you also see if it is reflected in the Vegas sports odds line.
I don't use match-up histories, etc. as I don't think that type of information is as important as what a team is currently doing, its injuries and current records.
The next thing I review are the different lines at 4 to 5 sports books. I check them when I get up and usually two or three more time to see if anything has moved on the games I am considering betting on.
If you see a spread larger then what you think it should be on a team with an impact player injured, then take advantage of it. Use the knowledge you have gathered from looking at the match-ups and team stats. Again, if you see spreads that seems weak against what the stats are telling you take advantage of it.
Sometimes the advantage is actually not betting on a game because of your research on the stats.
Use should also use your statistics to come up with other possible games to bet. Ones that aren't determined by The SportsBettingChamp System because they aren't low risk. These picks may be a bit more risky, but if you think are under valued based on the lines and the ranks/values you have given each team based on your research, you should consider betting it.

NBA Tonight - The Betting Sports Game
There are a lot of games on Sunday's NBA schedule. The season is approaching the half way point and most teams are taking a hard look at where they are in the standings. Now is the time where GM's will make a move if they have to. Some will do it to strengthen a strong team and shore up an area that may need some depth. Other teams may be looking to unload a player or to so they can rebuild with some youth or change the chemistry of a team. Watch for any trade action and always take it into account before placing bets.
Tonight when the Philedelphia 76ers visit the Denver Nuggets prepare yourself for a tough contest as both teams have been playing at similar levels over the last 10 games. Allen Iverson will be looking for a better outing when he faces his old team for just the 2nd time. In the first game Iverson was ejected after his 2nd technical foul and Denver lost 108-97.
Now, Iverson is the leagues 3rd highest scorer, averaging 26.6 points and has averaged even higher, 29.7/game, in his last 10 games. Combine his points with those of Carmelo Anthony and you have the NBA's leading offensive scoring tandem. The Nuggets should be able to win and cover the 8 points that you can find on the spread for this game. The over also looks attractive at 204.
The other game to look at has the Los Angeles Lakers hosting the Indiana Pacers. The Lakers are hot right now. They are looking for their 7th straight win against a Pacer team that is just starting a 5 game road trip. LA has averaged 107 points per game, 3rd in the NBA, and is ahead of that pace with 123 averaged per game in their last 3 games. They have also won 11 of their last 14 and are beating opponents by and average of 7.8 points per game.
This all adds up to the Lakers winning against the spread, which is at 8.5 points. They have beat the Pacers eight straight times at the Staples center, have one of the strongest benches and are also playing good defence thanks in part to the success of Andrew Bynum.

NBA Tonight & The Sports Betting Champ
It's a light schedule in the NBA tonight. Here is a quick run-down of the games and my opinion on what "should" happen. I will look at the NBA covers and give out some NBA spread tips.
The first game has the Seattle SuperSonics going into Phoenix to play the Suns. The line is going hard against Phoenix, giving Seattle 14.5 points. Even so, I still think the Suns will cover. Phoenix is on a 4 game run and Seattle is probably going to be without their two top point getter's, Kevin Durant and Chris Wilcox. Durant missed Monday's game with a sprained finger and is doubtful for tonight. The Suns are on a 3-0 run after ending December with a 10-5 record. Phoenix is also 19-0 when entering the fourth quarter with a lead, just a little side note....
I am going to get back on Portland even though they let me down the last time I played them. The TrailBlazers are heading into Chicago to play the Bulls tonight and should manage to win. They are currently a 3.5 point dog and with that line they should cover at the very least. Portland has averaged 102.6 points per game in their last 14 and Chicago has averaged 105.5 under interim coach Jim Boylan. With the over/under currently at 187.5 make sure you have a look at betting that.
Lastly is the game between the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets. To me, this is the tightest game to call in the NBA tonight. Both teams have similar records in their last 120 games, Denver typically plays well at home. However, the Spurs did beat the Nuggets in 5 in last year's NBA play-offs and won 102-91 at home in the first meeting between these two teams on Dec. 15th. I am leaning towards taking the Spurs and the 1.5 points.

Sports Betting Champ - A Winning System
How did your holiday betting on sports go? I had a great one in the NBA and posted a big gain into my bankroll. I broke even in the NFL and that is why I only bet a few games there versus the majority of my bets going to the NBA.
I always find that the NBA is a lot safer to bet on and easier to find consistent winners with The SportsBettingChamp System and always recommend it to anyone that asks. That is the game between the odds makers and the bettors looking for opportunities. But don't let the lack of large gains make you think you shouldn't be placing bets in the NBA. It is actually an advantage for the smart sports bettor and a key to winning the betting sports game. You need the safe bets, the easy wins that still increase you bankroll, but don't give you a high risk factor. Those are the games that will keep you on the winning track or get you there if you aren't there now.
That is why I still bet NFL games this weekend. There are still good opportunities there, but they have a higher risk as explained above. I know I can still safely bet some of those games without putting my overall bankroll at risk. This is because I have a strong foundation of bets that are going to win in the NBA. So, if I win the weekend's NFL bets I am up A LOT. If I don't win them, I break even because of the betting systems bets. I said earlier I was 50/50, this week, so I broke even in the NFL, but put cash into the bankroll from my NBA bets.

NBA Picks From The Betting Sports Game
I hope you played the picks I made on the 29th. I went 2 for 2 on those and did well on some others that I did not publish. I haven't thought about handicapping, but maybe I should..... not today anyhow!! It sure is nice to hit the picks and watch the bankroll grow. I placed those bets on CanBet and had good money lines which made it even better!!
Tonight I will publish a couple of more picks for free. The first one is on the higher end of the risk scale. The Golden State Warriors are going into Houston to face the Rockets. Both teams have been playing well lately and Houston is going for its first 3 game winning streak in more then a month after coming off of back to back wins against Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors.
However, they will still be missing Tracy McGrady and will have to rely on Yao Ming and the bench to pick up their game play again. Playing Golden State will not make that any easier as they have a winning road record and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. If their defence plays strong then they will win. The Warriors are 10-0 when holding opponents under 100 points. So, if you are looking for some tight action this game will fit the bill.
Another game that has a good moneyline, but some risk to match is the Portland Trail Blazers on the road against the Utah Jazz. Utah has played well at home, but Portland is on a tear and is going for their 14th straight line. On the opposite side of things is Utah, who have gone 3-11 since early in December. Two of those losses have been to Portland.
Another thing to consider is that Kyle Korver, whom the Jazz acquired from Philadelphia on Saturday, is expected to make his Utah debut in this contest. On BetUS this one will pay out $250 for every $100 bet on the Trail Blazers. For me, that pay out makes the risk/reward ratio acceptable.

The holiday season has also produced some great games and a trade. I haven't bet on many games, but will be starting again, as I was just to busy to do enough in depth analysis and risk my bankroll. Tonight in the NBA, the New Orleans Hornets should be able to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers at home. The odds makers are giving the a few points to the Cavaliers but I still think the Hornets can cover. Cleveland is the high flying team with the big star, but the hornets have surprised more ten one team this year and have put themselves just 1.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs.
Another game to watch is the Boston Celtics going into Utah to face the Jazz. With the trade of disgruntled guard Gordan Giricek to the 76ers for 3 point ace Kyle Korver, the Jazz will need some time to find their rhythm. You may want to take advantage of that. It will still be a close match up though and I am not going to bet it myself. If I was going to though, I would take Boston. They both have equal home and road regards of 10-2 respectively and Utah is getting around 3.5 points now. I like a home underdog generally and especially when it is east versus west, but with the trade and Boston's seemingly unstoppable offence it just seems unlikely the Jazz will win.

Strong NBA Covers For Tonight's Bets
It's a busy schedule tonight in the NBA. There are a few games that should be safe to bet, even with the spread. The first one requires 9.5-10 points to be covered, but I think that the Boston Celtics should be able to cover and more against the Chicago Bulls. They suffered their first home loss against the Detroit Pistons on Friday and this will be their bounce back game. Chicago is not having a great season and is 4-8 on the road, so I expect the Celtics to cover.
I also think it should be safe to look at the Detroit Pistons covering against the Memphis Grizzlies. Detroit is looking good and has held their last 4 opponents to under 90 points, one of them being Boston. The line is around 9.5 on this one as well, but I can't see that being an issue tonight. Another factor in Detroit's favor will be the possible absence of Pau Gasol, the Grizzlies leading re-bounder. He jammed his toe last week and has not returned to action yet. He will be a game time call tonight.
My last look is at the Utah Jazz visiting the Orlando Magic. Both teams are struggling a bit, but expect the Magic to cover the 3 points and take the game. Utah has really struggled on the road and has lost 7 straight. It is their worst road loss record since 2005. Orlando is only .500 at home and have only won 2 of their last 7, but on the road they are the best in the NBA and is show as overall they are 18-9. So the Jazz are a good fit for a Magic team looking to turn it around at home at 3 points.

NBA Tonight, A Few To Look At In The Betting Sports Game
There are only three games tonight and not much opportunity out there in the NBA. I don't think that the game between the New Jersey Nets and the Sacramento Kings fits into a low risk strategy. It is too high on the risk factor scale to be placing any amount of your bankroll on. Sacramento is 1 and 9 on the road, but with the Vegas line odds makers making the Nets a 5.5 point favorite it is hard to find the value.
The Los Angeles Lakers visiting the Chicago Bulls will be a good game and as some possibilities. The Lakers are riding Kobe and he is playing great. He has 36 points last game and even with some soreness in his groin he is playing spectacularly. I have seen the line giving the Lakers 2 points, so you may want to place a small bet on this one. I am going to avoid it myself, but we all have different risk factors and levels of betting strategy.
The last game tonight has the Toronto Raptors visiting the Los Angeles Clippers. The Raptors have been playing well for the most part lately. Chris Bosch is having a good year and leading the team in both points an rebounds and is also close to becoming the all time rebound leader for the Raptors. They are 6-4 in their last 10 and 6-5 on the road this season.on the other hand, the Clippers have a lot of injuries and Cuttino Mobley will be a game time call due to a stomach virus as will Tim Thomas, who missed the Clippers last game due to an ankle injury. If either or both are out the edge definitely swings to the Raptors. I have seen the line putting Toronto as a 5.5 point favorite and there is a good chance they can cover that.

Today's NBA For Low Risk Betting Using SportsBettingChamp

The last game I am going to look at it the Golden State Warriors travelling to Memphis to pay the Grizzlies. The Warriors were spanked in the first game of their 4 game road trip in Detroit by 20 points and did not look good at all. I look for them to bounce back, as they were not to happy with themselves after that game and are looking to make someone pay. That someone is Memphis. The Warriors can be found as a 4 point favorite, which isn't that much to cover, given Memphis' poor home record and they also have a high PA average.

The SportsBettingChamp System or not.
I had been looking at the system prior to the 2006-2007 season, actually during the pre-season when I was doing some research on the web on players, teams, etc. like I do each year. I decided to buy it and try it since there is an 8 week money back guarantee. I didn't have much to lose the way I looked at it. So, the Visa got charged and I got the system, which did win like it says it did.
People, including me in the past, look at this and think it is impossible. But, if you look at the number of games it bets versus the games played in a season it makes more sense. Look at the results for this season. It has picked and won 25 times, but if you look at the schedule, there have been over 600 games played this season in the NBA. So, really, the 25 wins is a small portion of the games played, like 4%, which isn't a lot really and means you aren't placing bets everyday either. It's all statistics that are used to calculate the best odds and it makes the picks based on its calculations and not that many games get picked because there aren't that many that are "sure" wins.
Also, I do bet other games and other sports on occasion. I come up with my own picks based on various things That is what I am trying to get across in the blog, The SportsBettingChamp System is just part of my low risk betting strategy. Everyone needs to develop a complete betting strategy that has more then one component to it.

What a difference one injury and one game can make. The Cleveland Cavaliers are definitely glad that Lebron James returned from his finger injury. And they have a 118-105 win over the Indiana Pacers to show for his first game back after missing 5. He came in from the bench and sparked the team with 17 points in 22 minutes. Lebron was wearing a protective glove with some padding on his hand, but it didn't seem to bother his dribbling or play at all. Neither did having Larry Hughes come in off of the bench and score 36 points in 26 minutes. It was his second game back from a leg injury and the largest amount of points scored by a reserve on the Cavaliers since Phil Hubbard(37) in 1986. Look for them to return to find some better form now and start to win more consistently. They are now officially back on our betting radar as long as Lebron stays healthy. Their next game isn't until Friday against the Nets, but be sure to check the line then and see if there is any opportunity.
I am mentioning that because I just noticed that the Los Angeles Clippers just rolled into New Jersey and took down the Nets by 9 points. That after going in as 6-1/2 point dogs. I wonder what the Vegas odds line makers are thinking about Friday's game now? I still would stay off of the Clippers and not take them against Charlotte tomorrow though. Let's not get too crazy, Charlotte does have a winning record at home and even after this win the Clippers will still be under .500 on the road.
Going into Wednesday's schedule, you may want to look at the Philadelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. I know the line is large at 7 points, but the 76ers have been playing well lately and the Timberwolves haven't, especially on the road. I would also look at the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks just came off of a bad road trip and are going to be looking to turn it around at home where they are 6 and 2 this year. But even after losing two, Orlando is still a much better team. The line right now is putting Orlando as a 4 point favorite and I think they can probably cover that and then some, so check it out.

NBA This Week - Betting Sports Game
Well, I had a good weekend playing the betting sports game. My Boston pick paid off well and that was just one of many NBA wins. I want to keep the momentum going, that's for sure. Tonight, I am not sure if I will be placing any bets. If anything I might look at taking Orlando over the Hawks, but the line is a bit high at 9.5 right now, so we'll see what its at later today. The Philadelphia and Houston game is a tough call with both teams barely playing .500 basketball. I won't bet this one or the Suns and Heat game as I try to avoid the big spreads over 10 points as part of my low risk betting strategy. I know that Miami isn't playing well but sometimes, the top teams seem to play down to their opponents level and like I said, avoid the big spread. The Dallas and New York game may look attractive to you and could be if you are looking for a bet with a higher risk. I think that with the way the Mavericks play on the road and the 8.5 point spread I will watch this one without any money on it.

Weekend NBA Action & A Few Key Injury Updates- The Betting Sports Game
Seven games today on the NBA schedule and you always need to look at them all. Look for some low risk betting action, the key to winning the betting sports game. There are a few things to note, on the injury front, Lebron will miss his fifth straight game with his sprained index finger. The Cavaliers desperately want him back as they have lost 5 in a row, their longest losing slide since January of 2006. However, tonight they are playing the Bobcats, who also are on the downward spiral, having a run of 7 straight loses. The Cavaliers,m who have won 9 of the last 11 against Charlotte could end up on top of this one and the Vegas sports odds line has them as an 8 point underdog. Mmmmm...

Kobe Brant's shoulder is giving him some pain and he was in some obvious discomfort during Wednesday's win over Denver. However, the LA Times are reporting that he will play in Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Kobe was quoted as saying: "It's not something that structurally is going to get any worse. It's just try to maintain the pain level down as much as possible so Sunday I'm playing with less pain than what I'm feeling now." So, his injury is something that we need to keep an eye on and make we know if it gets worse and how it will be affecting his play. This will affect bets on the Lakers and could play to our advantage if we are sharp.
The last game I am going to look at is the Boston Celtics at the Chicago Bulls. I have seen the line as low as 4-1/2 points for the favorite Boston and I think they should be able to more then cover that. They are 8 and 2 in their last 10 and the Bulls are under .500 at home this season. Even though the Celtics historically haven't done well against the Bulls, they have lost the last 8, it should change with the addition of Kevin Garnett to the match-up. I will be glued this one tonight.
